Ridetober Recap!

Ridetober, Commuteride’s annual fall campaign, encourages Treasure Valley commuters to try a smart commute option in October in exchange for the chance to win prizes while building healthy habits.

Determined to find a way to make Ridetober possible this year, we sought out ways to allow Treasure Valley residents to participate in a safe and fun way. The Ridetober Virtual 5K/10K Challenge opened up Ridetober to everyone, not just those “commuting” to work. It encouraged healthy activity, provided an opportunity for families and fur-babies to do something active together, introduced them to the new Commute Tracker app, and was a safe, exciting way to bring Commuteride and the community together.

Best of all, our community really showed up for the Ridetober Virtual 5K/10K Challenge. We met our goal of 100 registered participants in the first 24 hours after opening registration, and by the time the Ridetober race week was upon us, there were 246 people registered!

Race Packet Pick Ups

In September, Commuteride held three contactless, drive-up/bike-up race packet pick up events throughout the Treasure Valley. Armed with our masks, we met and reconnected with many people who were excited about the Ridetober Virtual 5K/10K Challenge. Every registered racer took home a bag of goodies and a race bib, and the lucky first 100 to register received a Ridetober Virtual 5K/10K Challenge t-shirt.

Race Week! October 1 – 11, 2020

And we’re off! Photos of happy racers and inspiring routes started pouring in on October 1st as people walked, ran, and biked their virtual race. Thank you to everyone who participated and showed and told us about their experience!

We already knew it, but we have to say it again – our community is AMAZING. The local business community outdid themselves and provided some truly awesome prizes for the Ridetober Virtual 5K/10K Challenge. It has been so much fun putting together prize packages and seeing how much the winners appreciate them. We can’t thank our donors and partners enough!
