military vanpool

For nearly two decades, Commuteride has provided vanpools to military personnel at Gowen Air Field, MATES, and Mountain Home Air Force Base. Vanpools to and from military facilities change often due to station changes and tours of duty, but you can join or start a new vanpool at any time.

Find a Vanpool

Check out current vanpool routes on Share the Ride Idaho, then review and submit a Commuteride Participant Agreement to Commuteride. If you don't see what you need, give us a call at 208-345-POOL or email commuteridefleet@achdidaho.org and we'll put you on our potential vanpool list or help you start a new vanpool.

Set Up Payment

  1. Once you have confirmed your vanpool number and monthly fare and submitted a Commuteride Participant Agreement, request a Transportation Benefit Card (TRANServe).

    • As a member of the military, you are eligible for a transportation benefit card which pays 100% of your monthly fare. A private company issues and manages these cards; however, you must request the card from the appropriate office. Applying for any employer-provided transportation subsidies is your responsibility.

      • Gowen Field: Building 442 (HRO), 208-272-4222

      • MATES: 208-272-7642

      • Mountain Home Air Force Base: Building 1132 (LRS), 208-828-2488

    • Ensure that you receive your TRANServe card during your first month riding the van. Club Red vanpools are free up to one month for new riders and may be used while you wait for your transportation benefit card to be issued.

    • Like any other credit card, you must activate the card before you can use it. Funds are deposited into the benefit card account each month for you to pay the following month's fare (i.e., October funds are for November's fare). If you do not use the funds to make a payment by the 4th, the private company will remove those funds and you will be responsible for the payment.

    • Commuteride recommends customers set up recurring payments with our office.

  2. Call the Commuteride office at 208-345-POOL or email commuteride@achdidaho.org to set up monthly recurring payments. Should you not set up payments at the end of your free month or if you have any issues getting your TRANServe card, we recommend you stop riding the van or you may pay out of pocket to cover your monthly fare starting your second month until you are able to confirm payment.
