May In Motion

May in Motion

What is May in Motion?
May in Motion – Alternative Transportation Champions is a month long promotion designed to reward Treasure Valley employers for educating their employees about transportation-related issues, and encourage their participation in transportation alternatives through a variety of exciting events and activities.

May in Motion is an annual event organized by Ada County Highway District Commuteride and Valley Regional Transit and supported by public and private sector interests concerned about the long-term vitality of the Treasure Valley.

Why May in Motion?
Traffic congestion and poor air quality are critical issues affecting the lives of all Treasure Valley residents. Failure to resolve these issues is taxing the local economy and jeopardizing the lifestyle that has contributed to area growth. Resolution is impossible without public consensus. The first step toward building that consensus is to focus public attention on the issues and options available for achieving solutions. May in Motion is dedicated to that purpose.

Who will the promotion appeal to?

  • Owners, managers, partners and employees of Treasure Valley businesses
  • Local governmental officials and employees
  • Treasure Valley residents who are concerned about traffic congestion and air quality
  • Treasure Valley commuters

How do I participate?
Employers: With the structure of May in Motion, your company can become an Alternative Transportation Champion. Your workplace may earn one of four different levels of achievement; platinum, gold, bronze or silver. Your workplace will receive public recognition, valued up to $8,000, depending on your level of achievement. For details, see the Alternative Transportation Champion Awards and Criteria information below.
The awards will be based on your workplace’s participation in three categories:

  1. alternative transportation incentives and subsidies you offer your employees
  2. participation in May in Motion
  3. promotion of alternative transportation at your workplace

Resident/Commuter: Talk to your employer and see if they are participating in May in Motion. If they are not, have them contact us at 345-POOL to get them started in becoming Alternative Transportation Champions. We’re here to help.
