Commuter Incentives
Transi-Cheks

Transi-Cheks are being offered to encourage commuters to try an alternative mode of transportation. The Transi-Chek program rewards a commuter by subsidizing $20 per month toward the first three consecutive months of their vanpool fares OR bus pass. A rider must purchase a monthly seat on Commuteride Vanpool or a monthly pass for the ValleyRide bus system to be eligible for the Transi-Chek.

The Transi-Chek works like cash; employees use the Transi-Chek to subsidize the cost of their vanpool fare or bus pass.

In no instance will any commuter be allowed to exceed the three Transi-Chek limit. A switch in mode will not qualify the commuter for any additional Transi-Cheks.
Qualified riders cannot have previously used Transi-Cheks and must be a new rider (within the first two months) on the particular transportation system they want to utilize.

Transi-Cheks and Employer Tracking Logs will be provided to local employers interested in promoting new rider ship to their employees. The Transi-chek incentive will be offered at no cost to employers, and they will only be available to commuters through their current employer. A Commuteride Employer Assistance Representative will be the point of contact for distribution of the Transi-Cheks to the employer.

Employers may only distribute Transi-Cheks to current employees at their organization who participate in vanpooling or the Valley Ride bus system. It is the responsibility of the employer to certify, with the employee, that they have not previously used Transi-Cheks and that they want to try a transportation alternative. To minimize the chance of misuse, loss or theft, employers should distribute only one Transi-Chek per month to their participating commuters for a maximum of three consecutive months.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. If I currently vanpool or buy a monthly bus pass and my employer just started offering Transi-Cheks but I’ve never used them can I apply for them?
No. Transi-Cheks are designed to be an incentive for employees who have never vanpooled or ridden the bus. Unfortunately they are not available to commuters who are already using a commute alternative.

2. If my employer does not distribute Transi-Cheks can I get them from another provider?
No. Transi-Cheks are an employer based program and are distributed only through participating employers. Commuteride would be happy for you to put us in touch with your employer to discuss with them about becoming a Transi-Chek program participant.

3. Are spouses and/or family members of employees who are eligible also able to receive Transi-Cheks?
No. However, Commuteride would be happy to contact your spouse or family member’s employer to establish a new distribution point.
